This is a steeper hike than the Baldy Mountain trail, but dogs still LOVE it!!! The views at the top are spectacular! Francie's Cabin is a part of the Hut to Hut skiing in Summit County, which means you can spend the night for about $25 per person. You ski, walk or snowshoe up and bring all of your food in along with your sleeping bag and other supplies. It is quite an experience. During the day, you tour around the cabin and ski the ridgelines. Because it takes less than an hour to get here, this HUT is very popular and gets booked up fast. For more information see www.huts.org

Dogs are not allowed at the Hut, only up to a certain point on the trail, because you need to use the snow around the Hut for drinking water!

Hike up to Francie's Cabin

The trailhead also offers longer hikes to enjoy, including The Mohawk Lakes trail which is a favorite in the summer time! Only 3.8 miles.
People have a great time snow-shoeing and there seemed to be less people today. Of course it was Monday!

Here's Malcolm making sure the trail is packed down for me and that there were no wild squirrels waiting for me.
Here is your goal, Francie's Cabin. A beautiful HUT that sleeps 16 adventurers. It has an indoor composting toilet, big kitchen with gas stoves, wood fireplace and many bunkbeds. It even has a sauna!!

The view as you come out of the trees and 100 yards to the cabin.
This is as far as dogs and snowmobiles can go. Tracey actually made it today!

Incredible mountain views!!
Red Mountain to the left and the Hoosier Pass Ridgeline down below.

Tracey wanted a margarita and some nachos so we headed back into Breckenridge and went to Mi Casa, one of the best Mexican restaurants in town.
